Well. The New York Times and William Safire even. (link requires registration).
I was over at Instapundit and linked to his post about Daily Pundit.
Bloggedy Blog had asked on May 29th who had coined the term blogosphere a few months ago, and I attributed it to Daily Pundit. What I didn’t know was where the term blog came from. It looks like Mr. Safire has dug it up.
The first use of the root of blog in its current sense was the 1999 ‘”Robot Wisdom Weblog,” created by Jorn Barger of Chicago.
Then followed bloggers, for those who perform the act of blogging and — to encompass the burgeoning world of web logs — blogistan as well as the coinage of William Quick on the blog he calls The Daily Pundit, the blogsphere.
I used Daily Pundits excerpt from the New York Times here because I positively refuse to register. Now I know where blog orginated.
