I found this link at Warblog: WW111. Read his comments first, and

then go read this very interesting speech by

Clay Shirky given to a group at the BBC.

If you were a broadcast media outlet thinking

about community building, here are five things you would think

about:

1. Audiences are built. Communities grow.
2. Communities face a tradeoff between size and focus.
3. Participation matters more than quality.
4. You may own the software, but the community owns itself.
5. The community will want to build. Help it, or at least let

it.

A Reasoned Response
Here is another American blog, A Dog’s Life, who doesn’t name call, ridicule

or scorn the Canadian people in his analysis of Prime

Minister’s Chretiens now famous interview on the CBC.

A GOVERNMENT UNWORTHY OF ITS PEOPLE… Enough

bloggers from the Great North have already had their say about

the idiotic comments of their Prime Minister, Jean Crétin

(sic). Nothing further from me is needed.
