A 58 year old employee of the BC Water, Land and Air Protection Agency killed a hostage and himself when he was fired yesterday. He returned in the afternoon with a handgun. There were about 15 people in the building, about 10 managed to escape.

Update: Three people are dead. The shooter is identified as a 56 year old. It is now a homicide investigation.

It appears a tentative deal has been struck between the 13,000 member CAW union and Daimler-Chrysler before the midnight deadline. The agreement now goes to members for a ratification vote.
