Strike up the Bandwidth

It appears the server problems that took Bene Diction Blogs On down today are fixed. I don’t consider a

509 error a ‘problem’ myself, especially since I don’t have to ‘fix’ it. A 509 error means that Bene

Diction exceeded it’s bandwidth allotment for the month of October. If memory serves me correctly, this is

the second time this has happened. My webservants say that there has been no DDOS attack, or malicious

tampering.
So, to all of you who have pushed that bandwidth limit by your visit….thank you!
Ya’ll come back now, hear?

This seems hinky
The federal government took a strong stand on Wednesday by issuing a ‘travel advisory’ to Canadian

citizens regarding travel to the US. I

counted 8 countries singled out. Today, it appears a great deal of political hay was made. The US

Ambassador to Canada, Paul Cellucci and US Secretary of State Colin Powell get mentioned in today’s story. Foreign Affairs minister

Bill Graham announced that the travel advisory would be lifted. New reports say the original decision

(leak?) in the US was a bureaucratic error.
Daimnation

points out the flaws in the US policy and the Canadian myths about border crossings. The advisory was

issued and retracted by Foreign Affairs and International Trade. So who benefited from this brouhaha? A

quick search showed 100 travel advisories from that federal department. Is this the first ever advisory

about the US issued by Canada? Did this get attention because US media picked it up? What is the agenda

here and who benefited?

Italy
Residents of a small village in southern Italy grieve and wait as rescuers try to find survivors

of a school collapse during an earthquake. 10 students and staff are unaccounted for, 20 are dead.

Southern Italy has had a tragic history of

quake damage and deaths.
