Kenna hit the Mexican West Coast this afternoon with sustained winds of 140 mph, dropping to 115 mph as it moved inland. There are reports of lots of property damage as the hurricane moves through. So far, there have been no casualties.

UPDATE: Kenna is now a category 5 and is expected to come ashore Friday afternoon. Forcasters say it may weaken a bit, but is potentially catastrophic.

About 20-50 Chechan rebels have taken over a crowded theatre and have made their intentions very clear.

On October 16th I linked to a blog of a friend of Rick Gleason that was posting updates and messages. Rick Gleason was seriously injured in the bombing in Bali and was airlifted to Australia.
Rick Gleason died from his injuries today. Another Canadian from Calgary Mervin Popadynec is missing and presumed dead.
