It’s offical.
I am certifiably nuts.
I’ve been blogging since May. I started at Martin Roth Online, (Martin Roth Christian Commentary) then moved to Bene Diction Blogs On in July. I’ve been posting at blogs4God.com since August.
(note to self: Bene, that is a lot of blogging. Take a break!”)
I have the heart of a meta-blogger, and if people want to quibble about what a meta-blogger is, quibble away. I just know since I started blogging that is where I come from in this strange sub-culture, ok? I’m not going to quibble.
I had set a goal back in my early days of blog lurking (over a year ago) that took me seven months of hard work to reach. I reached it yesterday.
Today I’m heading off on vacation.
It’s official. I’m nuts.
I’m certifiably nuts.
Would you like the bulk of this blogging story?
Okay. Well, there were two goals actually. The first goal was an Instapundit nod.
Why?
Very simple. So I could say, been there, done that, got the t-shirt, got the key chain, and developed the photos. Thanks to the team at the portal, the Prof waved at Bene Diction Blogs On yesterday. So I can say, been there, done that… now I know.
Very cool. I can empathize with others struggling to reach that blogging brass ring. I can empathize with others who’ve grabbed it. I can even empathize with bloggers who don’t care one way or the other.
The second goal was a lot more subtle and goes to where my heart is.
It was in the log.
The stupid log here at Bene Diction Blogs On has really, really been bugging me.
Back in August, (a long time ago in cyber-space when the portal was young) there was a controversy involving another site. Some of you older bloggers and readers will remember that. If you don’t know what in the blogosphere I’m yapping about, head into the archives and look up JesusJournal.com.
It’s all there. Not much about what Jesus would be pleased with. It’s a sorry little mess of posts about what can happen when Christians don’t get along and turn into control freaks.
There it was, in my log. The highest number of hits was a day with a post about the controversy where bloggers really got hurt. That is not what Bene Diction Blogs On is all about. It is not who I am or what I stand for. It is not a bene-diction. Cold hard numbers stared back at me every time I went into that log. It smarted and it stung. That early spat helped shape my blogging, forged some determination and direction and gave me some heart. But trust me, it stung to see bloggers wounded.
That controversy big hit day speaks to the darker side of human nature. I don’t have to like it. So, since August I’ve been working very hard to change those numbers in the log. Yesterday, a post on sacrifice, loyalty, honour and freedom bumped those controversy hit numbers right out of this blog’s log. Finally.
It took a post of prose, a post that speaks gently and deeply to the heart to bump those numbers.
Whooo hooo! Did it ever!
I can go on vacation now. I’ll be back around December 1st.
Since I have the heart of a meta-blogger and I can’t really handle this little blog going dark for a few weeks, I’ve asked someone to blog sit. He has the keys, he can head in any time and make himself at home. He can turn on the lights, make a snack, tidy up, check the locks and plunk down in the pundit chair. He can invite a friend over to do some re-arranging. When he shows up and parks some posts, you’ll know. Oh man, trust me, you’ll know.
I’m nuts.
I am certifiably nuts.
May God bless you and keep you. Blog on!
