Missionary Doctors Killed

Three American doctors have been shot dead in Yemen. A fourth was wounded in the attack at a missionary-run hospital in the southern town of Jibla, Yemeni officials said.

The attacker - described as a suspected Islamist - was subsequently arrested. The lone attacker Ali Abdulrazzak al-Kamel entered the Baptist hospital and shot the doctors while they were in a meeting.

After being arrested he told police that he had shot the two men and two women to “cleanse his religion and get closer to Allah,” unnamed Yemeni officials told Reuters news agency.

Oil

Put it this way. Prices are going up. Venezuela is unstable. The Middle East is unstable.

Aids

The gathering of information about the only Aids vaccine to go through the final phase of a clinical trial is expected to finish within days so that the findings can be made public early in the new year.

Over 5 thousand people have received over 35 thousand injections over five years. The data collected if stacked, would be as tall as the Statue of Liberty. If this vaccine works…. Potentially millions of people will not die in this ongoing pandemic.

Police Log
Another edition of The World’s Wackiest Police Log from Arcata Eye Newspaper. A tidbit:

11:54 p.m. A man liked a bar as much as it didn’t like him. He was extracted from same and arrested on a probation violation charge.

Moblogs

The Boston Globe has an article on moblogs…mobile blogs. How Now Brown Pau goes there and does that, I believe. Cell phones are used. Audio and video can be blogged. The most interesting development is called ‘blogmapping”.Bloggers associate their entries with hot spots on a map. They click on the spot and the text appears. It has to do with RSS feeds, GIS and Macromedia. I don’t understand it yet. You can see it here.

Entries will be sporadic as we work things out technically. My sincere thanks to the Canadian Armed Forces whiz that is setting this blog up from another province, and who has real life duties to attend to. We’re working on it. Basically that means I’m staying out of the way as much as possible.

I’ll also be over at connexions.net as I get back to blog leaping and decide that someone’s post is just too good not to pass on. Comments section is available there. Thanks Richard! Blog on!
