The Online Journalism Review did an article on the 50 names to know online.
They were all American as J.L. Perrone noticed.
I was immediately drawn to Jeffrey Perlman’s “Names to Know” article in the inaugural edition of Online Journalism Review. Like most followers of the fortunes of new media, I love to find out who the rising stars of this fast-moving business are. I was disappointed, however, that the list was limited to American names. Was the rest of the world still languishing in the pre-Internet dark ages? Of course not. So I agreed to write a kind of sequel list of non-American names. Unlike Perlman’s list, I have not attempted to rank the names, but opted for an egalitarian alphabetically-ordered list. I have included e-mail addresses where they were freely available via the Internet.
He’s correct. There is some innovative work being done here.
PrayerCaNN morphed! Actually their witty web elf, or one of their witty web elves (hard to tell!) asked my opinion, which in turn for a link, I wasn’t at all shy to share.
Head over, there’s room for you to give yours. Blog on!
Burning CD’s
I’ve watched the ethical debates on different blogs regarding mp3’s, or copying and swapping. In over 40 counties levy’s are imposed on blank tapes, and blank CD’s. In Canada copying for personal use is legal, but I had no idea we were taxed this much. This tax is supposedly for the benefit of the artist, but I know that not one of them have ever seen one red cent. Wired News looks at the war of words in the music, technology and retail industries.
The dispute centers around fees collected from technology companies to reimburse the music industry for losses incurred by music copying and swapping.
A survey shows that 50% of burnable CD’s are used for music? Huh. Some people fudged on that one.
Small Computers
Can you imagine a fully functioning wireless computer that is about the size of a paperback and weighs about a pound, 20 gigs, 5.8 inch screen, USB? You don’t have to…they should be available by Christmas according Vulcan Inc.
