Now, this is controversial, and at this point a breaking story. 11 empty chemical warheads were found during UN weapons inspections in Iraq.
The US is saying this is a material breach. Here is an interesting take.
Inspectors said said they found the 122mm warheads when they were examining Iraqi bunkers.
The shells were scanned with X-rays and will be tested for chemicals, said Hiro Ueki, the inspectors’ spokesman in Baghdad. A 12th warhead was also discovered that the UN wants to look at more closely, according to Ueki.
“The warheads were in excellent condition and were similar to ones imported by Iraq during the late 1980s,” a United Nations statement said.
But Lt. Gen. Hossam Mohammed Amin, chief Iraqi liason officer to the inspection teams, said the rockets were in a sealed box covered with dust and bird droppings.
