While parts of the US dig out from under a snowstorm, the town of Badger in Newfoundland has been evacuated. 1200 people woke up to flooding from three rivers that backed up, causing hugh chucks of ice to smash into homes. It is not known when residents will be able to return.

Trust
A Leger Poll asked Canadians to rate 20 professions by trust. The top five we trust are: firemen, nurses, farmers, doctors and teachers. (What in Tarnation could come to Canada to teach, but the bureaucracy here would crush him!)

Our least trusted? Publicists, car salespeople and politicans.

NATO
After a 13 hour meeting Canada helped break the month long stalemate of Germany, Belgium and France — pitted against other NATO members who saw the defence of Turkey as a test of the alliance’s core commitment to assist one of its members. NATO is the world’s oldest military alliance.

Ivory Coast
Several times in the past weeks, I’ve mentioned in the instability in this tiny African country. Apart from the horrible human toll, here are some reasons this country matters.

Chicago
21 people are dead after someone released pepper spray in a two storey nightclub. Most died stampeding toward the exits. The front door was the only one open.

Israel
20 thousand Ethopians of Jewish origin will be allowed to immigrate to Israel.
In 1991, 15 thousand were airlifted to Israel after a bloody civil war.

Blogdex was interesting today. Of 40 entries on the front page, 98% of them were on the Iraq war and Google purchasing Pyra.

Correction: I paraphrased inadequately and incorrectly above. What Dispatches says is, “in some ways, the guy reminds me of M. Thatcher.”
I stand corrected…. me stating…. “is a lot like M. Thatcher,” is unfair, sloppy and a blatant Bene D boo boo. My apology Roy.

Have you seen the Tech Support Caller Warning System? ar arr arrr. My favorite is the Orange Alert.

Indicates a warning of a high apopletic fit. Callers insist that their operating system is “Netscape,” their web browser is by “Logitech” and the specific application that blew up on them is “Microsoft.” (Heh)

    Bene,
Be carefull how you paraphrase someone. What I said was “In some ways, the guy reminds me of Margaret Thatcher.” Not quite the same as saying he’s “a lot like Margaret Thatcher,” is it? I disagree with many of the policies he advocates. But by golly, they way he’s sticking to his guns on this one, and his stated reasons for doing so, well, my hat is off to him.

    Anyway, thanks for the link.

    God speed,
    Roy

I was wrong Roy. I phrased it poorly.
    They don’t even look alike.
I have posted about my error, please accept my apology, and thank you for correcting me. Blog on!

Apology gladly accepted, and you are very welcome. That’s how this family thing we call the Church is supposed to work, right?

What in Tarnation complains too much. Do you know how standardized testing is done in Canada, just curious.

Seriously if you want to know I have friends….
