A global TV forum hosted in London Thursday will bring together politicans, media and various others in a 90 minute program. Might be interesting.
What would peak my curiousity is the poll that will be conducted in the US looking at how Americans understand their image in the world.

Liberia
The situation in an already torn country are getting worse. This country, founded by freed slaves have been in civil war for a couple of decades. Attacks this past week on the capital have put thousands of people in a desperate situation. Most aid workers have been airlifted out. Here is an account of what life is like for Liberians.

Iran
It isn’t just students involved in the six days of protests in Iran. The BBC has emails from residents of Tehran that reflect what is going on.

SARS
Over a thousand scientists and government officials are attending the WHO conference on SARS in Malaysia this week.

To date over 8400 cases have been indentified with 800 deaths. Several months into identification of SARS it is still the unknowns that medicine is trying to address.

“Sars is the first major international epidemic of the 21st Century and only due to massive unprecedented international response has Sars come under control in all areas,” said Mark Salter, a Geneva-based WHO technical officer.

“We hope in the next few months we are in a position to say the box is now closed.”

“What we need to ensure, though, is that the box is closed tight, but to do that we still need a lot more information about the virus, the disease and how the disease spreads among the population.”

He said there were still “yawning gaps” in knowledge about the disease and “only by filling those gaps we can say Sars is gone for good.”

“We cannot be complacent and we cannot sit back in a few weeks time when there are no more cases and say ‘right we are done.’”

European Union and the Internet
The Council of Europe–an influential quasi-governmental body that drafts conventions and treaties–is meeting today to finalize a proposal that says Internet news organizations, individual Web sites, moderated mailing lists and blogs must offer a “right of reply” to those who have been criticized by a person or organization. Righto. And just how do they think this is enforceable?
It isn’t. And the bureaucrats on the 200 million dollar committee need to get a clue.

Trackback for Dummies
Speaking of clues. This may be trackback for dummies, but I don’t get it. I wouldn’t mind using the trackback feature, but after reading this, I’ve no more understanding than when I started. What I cannot figure out is how to use it when I link to someones post. Can someone put this in kindergarten-tech language for me?

Ireneq has moved to MT and a domain name. Update the bookmarks. eliacinandricci have a spiffy new look.
Ranting and Roaring is getting there in the move to MT. It’s nice to see him find some time to work on his own blog, he’s been busy providing tools for the rest of us.
Dispatches from Outland had a great divine appointment.
Joyful Christian has just returned from his first trip to Canada. He went to Winnipeg, and he liked it! Next visit Jeffrey, I hope you get to see someplace nice… (just kidding). If the loonies threw you, the toonies must have been almost uncomprehensible. Wait til we get our foonies! Come back for a visit anytime, and if you are looking for Canadian bloggers to head to Tim Hortons with, check out The List eh?

The Reverend bloggers
In surveying the god-blogs, I’ve noticed a high percentage of ministers that blog. Some use blogging as a platform to keep preaching. Most however, don’t.
Ministers and priests have a lonely job, and friendships in the real world can be difficult because of expectations on both sides. Blogging can be a place for them to do what the rest of us do so freely….vent, think, explore, reframe, be themselves. In blogging they help us and they can help themselves. If nothing else, blogging can provide diverse dialogue that one wouldn’t get in the neighbourhoods, congregations and conference circles familar to them.
I’ve noticed a lot of blogging reverends/priests in the past several months asking some honest and tough questions about where they are at. DashHouse has set up a new blog, that minister/priests may find some safety and openess on.

Blog Readers
Lots of people enjoy reading blogs, but for some of us there comes that stage where we move from reading into blog-lurking. That’s the point where you start to wonder….do I want to blog? I could do this. Of course you could. Here’s an article that explores different blog tools. Go for it.

Thanks to all of you who have added this blog to your roll lately. I have been amiss in not keeping up. There are some great blog names out there….I did have to look up the word homiletic :^)

I made a decision to limit my sidebar blog roll to 50 blogs, since research indicates a smaller roll is more likely to be used by readers. However, my blogs folder in my favorites is continuing to grow, much like the closet one tosses favorite things into.
Do you tend to click over to someones blog and er, make use of their blog roll?
I admit I do it all the time.

Daypop is back up to speed and extreme tracker is down. Blogging can be challenging.

If I said I wouldn’t be caught dead in this, that would be an understatement.

Re Trackback. You don’t have to figure out how to use it. Go to the Weblob Config/Preferences section of the MT editing menu and scroll down until you see “Turn on TrackBack auto-discovery?” Check that box, save, and rebuild your blog. Then, whenever you link to someone, MT will check to see if they have Trackback enabled, and, if so, will automatically ping them. You won’t even need to think about it, just blog on!

LoL. Why can’t they just say that?!!!!
I’m already configured for that, but I haven’t been using it because…duh.
I thought when I linked to someone I had to hit their trackback instead of link, open in new window.
I really like MT, and I probably wouldn’t use another platform, but their help menu is impossible. Thanks Dave, you blog on too!
