I lost a day. The heat got the best of me. I finally slept and kept some food down. We get heat waves in August occasionally, and it’s a bit unusual to have this level of heat for so long this early in the summer. Throws bio-rhythms off, I think. Did mine. Got out of bed and saw this.

(Bourque Newswatch)

Moscow medical officials and police say 15 people are dead and over 50 are wounded in two bombings at a packed rock concert outside the city.
They fear the death toll will be higher.
Two females, believed to be Chechen, blew themselves up at the main entrance.
The popular rock concert called “Krylya” (Wings) Festival attracts young people. About 40 thousand were in attendance and some where unaware of what happened. They were able to evacuate the area without panic.
I confess I’m still surprised when pictures and coverage comes out of Russia so openly. This is the second time in the past year Moscovites have died and the second time an entertainment venue has been targeted.
The Chechen war began in 1994.

The official figure for the number of Russian soldiers who have died in Chechnya since 1999 is 4,705, though the organisation Soldiers’ Mothers of Russia puts the figure at 11,000.

Their estimate for the first Chechen war, which lasted from 1994 -1996 is 14,000 dead, compared with the official 5,500. Civilian deaths in this war are numbered in the tens of thousands.

More than 60,000 Chechen refugees remain in neighbouring Ingushetia.

More than 250 people have gone missing in Chechnya this year, according to a member of the pro-Moscow government.

SARS
The World Health Organization says the global outbreak is contained for now, as it took Taiwan off the watch list after the 20 day period of new cases.
812 people died and about 8,400 cases were documented.

I’m going back to bed.
