Or Rampaging Richard, or the Sermon on the Mount or whatever someone witty can come up with. :^)
A methodist minister from Swansea cycled the South Wales circuit today and preached 11 different sermons.
Over 60 miles.
No small feat.
He is finished.
Good crowd at final service, enthusiastic reception. Glad to have done it, glad its finished! I’m off to the shower, then to bed!
Short email from an exhausted person. Sleep well.
But why?
There were record breaking temperatures in Wales today.
These weren’t mega-churches and there weren’t mega-crowds.
No one made any money out of this event.
No networks showed up.
Sure, a children’s charity gets what money there is. They’ll need more soon.
It’s a Saturday for petes sake, why would anyone venture into the heat and show up in some old churches? Most of us in this world don’t speak Methodist, so what’s the big deal? John Welsey has been dead for nearly 300 years and most of us would have to look him up on Google or head to the library if we were really dedicated to reading 18th century english.
Why?
Why would a blogger/minister in Wales go to all that trouble?
It isn’t about ego.
It isn’t about money.
It isn’t about publicity.
It isn’t about blog hits.
It isn’t about nationality.
It isn’t about creed.
It isn’t about numbers.
So what was this unmeasurable heart-effort about in Wales today?
Or any day?

Thanks for all the updates Bene. I’ve linked to the story today. I was concerned about the heat, but he’s finished, thank God.
Shalom,
