I got two interesting emails today.
One is from a long time blogger who has an ability to encourage and reach out.
He’s been thinking about keeping in touch with others. Journey inside my Mind knows the value of community even when people are cautious.
I find that, when I’m feeling down or lonely and I want to be cheered up, all I need to do is encourage someone else. I know that by doing that I myself get encouraged. I find great joy in seeing great qualities in others. I learn to appreciate them so much more.
The other was from a new blogger in the UK. Same theme, different approach.
It can be difficult as a new person in this hobby to take the step of contacting others and getting a presence built. It’s Andes November 18th post.
I got thinking about my blogging past last night and how rich it has been.
A lot of bloggers that were online when I started are still going strong, and their blogs aren’t unlike my favorite armchair. A place of familarity.
New bloggers are great fun. Watching them find their place reminds me of many journeys, including my own.
Superblessed.net is a long time online presence for me, and as I posted last night I took a trip down memory lane.
Being in broadcasting has given me a different sense of ownership about how I think about words and presence. I don’t think what I write is written in stone, nor do I think because I have an opinion I have to inflict it on others.
I have no sense of ‘the best of Bene Diction Blogs On’. I don’t recall ever re-posting anything.
When Ganns posted last years awards, I don’t know if any of us could convey to him what his encouragement meant.
And I suspect the same is true this year.
In Ganns 2002 awards post, people that didn’t understand got a bit piqued. That’s ok, but I wound up feeling forced to having to do an ‘about Bene’ post. That is a rare event and one I wasn’t comfortable with. What is interesting is the foundations still hold true.
I went back and read it last night.
So, who is Bene Diction? Just a blogger.
As Popeye says, “I yam who I yam.”
Published 4 years, 8 months agoBene Diction is a blog that I try to make a safe place for atheists, catholics, protestants, orthodox, denominations, westerners, easterners, and dwellers in the southern and northern hemispheres.
It is a blog of information from a citizen of the world, a member of the human race, and a person who has been to the cross.
It is a blog where ideologies of left, right, centre, liberal, conservative, neo, have little room to stick.
It is an ageless blog where there are no boomers, seniors, genX, or tweeners. Po-mos, or traditionalists stickers aren’t a big deal here.
It is a blog where I strive to see you are listened and linked to, where my personal identity stickers (married, single, divorced, kids, no kids, ambitions, economic tally, gender, job, stuff) take back seat to your worth and value.
Bene Diction is a meta-blog.
Bene Diction is a ‘brand name’ blog.
Here, stickers are dignity, respect, worth, avoiding loshun hora, value, and grace for other bloggers and readers.
And when I fail in this, there are wonderful people like Ganns and you to lift me up and blog along side.

Cool!
(Sorry, that’s just the first and only thing that came to my mind when I read this.)
Tim:
Don’t be sorry….cool is a great word, and one I use quite frequently because it conveys just the right punch. Thanks. :^)
I got Ande’s email too. At first I wasn’t sure if it was legit coz it looked like he was spamming as many of the God-bloggers he could find. But I checked out his site and it panned out. I did email him back and kinda ask him not to do it again though!
Yeah. I think we really have to separate the spam from the good guys, and that isn’t always easy. Saw you in the header.
I identify with you Irene, you have a job etc. to protect and safety is a very critical issue for you. Once people read your blog they know that, and hopefully will honour you and others in your position.
But people that may not have that problem can take a minute to help out a legitimate blogger.
I’d hate to see newbies shut out because you and I get spammed or our safety has been threatened. My safety was really put on the line by a piffed off long time blogger who knew better, so go figure.
No intent to harm, and intent to harm are issues we have to consider every day with others in our lives and on-line. Blog on!
Hello, i feel i have to say sorry for causing a bit of upset, i didn’t ever set out to upset anyone or indeed spam anyone, my only hope was that people who were intrested in the same things as i was would stop buy and check out my site and help me along as a new blogger, so i apologise for any problems caused.
p.s Which november 18th post were you referring to bene
Hi Ande:
Welcome to the blogosphere!
Interesting isn’t it?
We are a very diversified bunch.
Don’t be afraid to email me or comment,eh?
You don’t owe me an apology.
I’m not upset with you.
Irene is very good at setting what boundaries are necessary for her. That’s a good thing.
We all learn by doing. Hang in there.
I was referring to your post on your 24 hours with Christians, tried to permalink, and was unsuccessful. Blog on! :^)
This reminded me that when I started blogging, virtually the only hits I would get would be when Bene “cached” me on Martin Roth’s blog.
Thanks Bene. I don’t even know how you found me.
thanks bene, thanks for the link and the encouragement hope you think the 24 hour thing is a good idea
Hi David:
I don’t know either. (and now you are the peoples choice, congratulations!) But I’m glad I did. Blog on!
The permalink seems to work for me:

Don’t worry Ande, I’m not upset with you either
No harm done, and like Bene says, we all learn as we go along.
