What is it like to be married to a blogger?
This is a bit of a consuming hobby, with it’s own words, heck, it’s it’s own world we call the blogosphere.
My twin is the one that mostly gets to listen to my blog babblings, payback time for the listening I’ve done about the game site reviews and editorials.
I honestly haven’t got others in my life I’d dare inflict this enthusiasm on for any length of time, I care about them to much. I’ll get maybe 10 minutes of ‘uh huh’s’ from my twin before the eyes glaze over and the exasperation starts.
“What are you talking about? Do you know how techical you sound?
No body on this sidewalk cares what a ping is, ok?”
- or -
“You talk about bloggers like they were your neighbours or something. Whose post are you yacking about now?”
ar arr arrrr.
This is a great post from the wife of Daniel Drezner.
As I have said, being married to one blogger has been difficult enough. Not only does my husband spend time working on this thing, but people actually read it – no surprise to you, dear reader, but a hell of a shock to me. I’ll listen to what Dan’s saying maybe half the time – on a good day.
Next time there are family squabbles over this hobby, just ask your expasperated spouse to post.

My biggest problem hasn’t been the time I spend, but the constant struggle to stay this side of the line that is a breach of confidence. I want to be honest and transparent, but, being married, I can’t be _that_ honest!
I just got “the talk” from my wife about how she is getting bored by hearing me talk about the same blog stuff over and over. When I am thinking about something she reads it on my blog and then she hears me tell the same thing to a friend or two, and then to her mom when we are chatting, and then maybe to another blogger in some comments.
It’s also kind of funny because she blogs too so sometimes the same thing happens on my end!
I also enjoy the stat challenges. Sometimes she will get kind of bummed out if I get more hits than her and it starts a little competition…
ahhh.. the joys of blogging!
Hey, it’s my husband who doesn’t want to hear about my blog habit. He will read random posts that I e-mail to him, but he just glazes over most of my blog stuff. But that’s ok - I don’t always want to hear about his beloved radio, either.
We have our 30th anniversary coming up. One learns what needs to be shared, and what is ok to have to ones self. I suggest a shared bed, and separate computers and checkbooks.
