It’s a bit odd to be blogging away from my computer, but I am grateful that I can. This has been a busy week, and I haven’t had an opportunity to take my coat off to post this, I’ll be dashing off again in a few minutes.
I don’t recommend having a fender bender in -30C with a special needs child in the back seat of the car, especially since the car hit where the little one is strapped in.
Everyone is ok, but I realize that as much as I am a complete person, I am more complete in the presence of my twin. A lady in a parking lot hit the gas instead of the brakes and went sailing into our car. In those split seconds my twin tried to drive defensively and I whipped around to protect a tiny 9 year old. We got bounced about a bit.
This unique little girl in our family takes cues from the emotions of the grownups, and explaining an accident or checking normal ways for injury doesn’t work. Reassurance, calmness, distraction and smiles help after checking for injury. The most difficult part is not losing one’s temper with someone who doesn’t want to give out their insurance information.
And pens just don’t work in this kind of cold weather.
It’s just a car, it’s just a busy week.

Hey BD, glad to hear you’re ok.
- Peace
Sounds rough.
*Very* glad everyone’s OK. Go easy on yourself - these incidents take it out of a body.
You’re in my prayers.
Oh man! I’m glad you’re all ok!!! Hugs
Thankful you are all ok. Take it easy and look after yourself and the others who were with you. This sort of thing can be more disturbing than it may first seem.
Shalom,
Jan
wow, your guardian angels are working overtime.
*Very* relieved to hear you are all OK. His peace to you all.
Likewise *very* glad you are ok. You’ll be in our prayers for both physical and *other* after effects.
Peace,
Paul
Thanks.
I admit I’m a bit sore and a bit wired. Not scared, maybe a bit too calm, and overtired. I’ve seen some horrible accidents and death in my job. I’ve travelled a great deal and have been personally involved in a few accidents. I know there can be aftereffects.
I’m mostly grateful for how God created us to be aware, to react quickly and wisely and my twin and I are admitedly irritated the driver didn’t care about anything except avoiding reporting this through the right channels.
She didn’t/couldn’t acknowledge a child could have been hurt, let alone us two adults. It didn’t occur to her to ask. I suspect she was a bit shocky and wasn’t thinking consequences. The damage on the side of the car probably surprised her.
Thanks for your prayers. God is not bound by linear time, and I know His hand is in all things.
Blog on!
Did you get her insurance details in the end?
Bene,
So glad that you are okay. Blessings.
Hey Regan:
I did get the insurance details. She did not report the accident, but her insurance company did call us. She admited culpability, we will get a rental car and the $500.00 deductable is paid by her company as well. All’s well that end’s well. Pays to have a good insurance company.
