There are three areas in Canada that currently do not have weather warnings out today.
I live in one of them. It was -42C last night, so normal temperatures today seemed balmy. Sunshine was a bonus.

I was over at Reverend Mike’s House of Homeletic Hash. It is very strange to see snow in North Carolina.

Europe hasn’t been faring well weather wise either. Even parts of the continent used to snow are experiencing infrastructure problems and deaths. And the UK is getting hit with unusual snow showers. (mix of snow and rain)

British Airways cancelled at least 20 flights bound for continental Europe and the United States from London airports Heathrow and Gatwick, as high winds and snow showers began sweeping south from Northern Ireland and Scotland, sending temperatures plummeting.

“There is a risk of snow everywhere, with the heaviest snow showers likely to be in Scotland and northeast England,” said a spokeswoman for the British weather service.

The mercury was expected to drop to minus six degrees Celsius (21 Fahrenheit) in parts of Northern Ireland overnight Monday. Seventeen centimeters (seven inches) of snow have already fallen in northern Scotland, with more predicted.

Wind chill is hovering around -45C here. The car started okay after work, but for the first couple of klicks, it felt like the power steering fluid had been replaced by cooked oatmeal.

It is a bit like wondering if your car is running on Vaseline, isn’t it? Stay warm and blog on!
