I don't know about Plaintiff's lawyers getting rich (which I doubt, as most of this work is likely on contingency and the awards aren't that huge), but the Defence lawyers are just getting their normal wages. People chose to practice public law (employed by the government) for a variety of reasons but it certainly isn't to get rich.
