This Star reporter hasn’t been reading some of the blogs I have.

It is true that relapsed catholic is taking a well deserved break, but it is more about having a life than what the reporter is suggesting. That was a cheap shot and one Kathy did not deserve.

If the above makes no sense to you, then you have not been paying attention to the chest-thumping chaterati of the cybersphere, a post 9/11 class of might-is-right and right-is-might wordsmiths who rode the “War on terror” wave with their warmongering web logs.

But now, with the news getting more dire, the quag more mired and the cost of war ever higher, the warbloggers find themselves on the wrong side of history. And so some of them are putting down their mice and putting up a white flag.

“Where is everybody?” wailed Damian Penny last week.

The youngish lawyer based in Newfoundland, whose blog is one of the top right-wing online pit stops for Canadians, noticed that, in recent weeks, his pro-war comrades in keyboards were holding their fire.

Saying Damian wails was a big mistake, and flat out wrong.

It remains to be seen whether reports about Guatanamo Bay are verified. Unitl they are the chatter will continue and when they are the defense will be loud. I tend to think it goes to source. Given the US propensity to be individualistic and highly distrustful of international NGO’s, the UN and international media, reports are more apt to be believed in the States when their media and government acknowledge them.
And for US pundits, the presidental election is frequently indistinguisable from world reality.
I don’t fully agree with this Star article. Sometimes in the face of harsh revelation silence can be the best response. Yes, a couple of war-bloggers are taking a break, and some are quieter. The rest are carrying on.
