Wackiness: 60/100
Rationality: 60/100
Constructiveness: 76/100
Leadership: 44/100

You are a WRCF–Wacky Rational Constructive Follower. This makes you Paul Begala. You are unflappable and largely unconcerned with others’ reactions to you. You were not particularly interested in the results of this test, and probably took it only as a result of someone else asking you to.

You have a biting wit and intense powers of observation. No detail is lost on you, and your friends know it–relying on you to have the facts when others express only opinions. You are even-tempered, friendly, and educated. Foolish strangers may mistake your mildness for weakness–they will be surprised.

You entire approach to life is enviable. You will raise good kids.

Well. Part of this is true. No one asked me to take the quiz, I found it over at Wanderings of a Post Modern Pilgrim. I don’t know who Paul Begula is, and I’m not going to look him up.

Over the river and through the vale
I spent about 10 hours today in the woods working communications for an extreme bike race. (yeah - woods as in a place cell phones don’t work:^) It’s been a media fast kind of day. Bugs got a few bites in. The deer flies, sand flies and black flies were almost as bad as the mosquitoes. Deet and netting are not really optional if you are out in the wilderness staying put that long. I came home to find a fact sheet from the Health Unit. The public eduction about West Nile has been kicked up several notches.

I see The Green Man got whalloped with comment spam that crippled his blog for awhile too. He seems a bit more pragmatic in his approach to the attack than I’ve been. I don’t accept these blitzes as business as usual.
It’s hard to understand that something that we see as a nuisance can cripple a blog and email when it becomes a flood. He got about 500 less than I did before a blogger stepped into the FTP and coded something in. He knows enough about websites to step into his SQL.
We’ve really gone from gorilla marketing to er, embedded marketing, and I am royally ticked off that blogs are getting hit. Comment spam attacks are gorilla marketing at it’s worst.

At one level it was frustrating Bene but at another it was a battle of wits and at this stage I have outwitted them and learned how to access my blog SQL database directly to boot. Something that I had not been motivated to do before.

I can understand that it is frustrating if you feel disempowered by the experience but I came out of it feeling more empowered. They may strike again and I may feel different but this time, for me, it was an interesting and challenging engagement.

    Fair enough.
I understand it is a battle…however I refuse to see it as a self-protecting battle that uses market based solutions - leaving consumers paying.
And legal solutions do not combat the criminal activity they were designed to address.

Thats great if you are challenged on a technical level. I can respect that. I’m not blogging to be technically stretched. I’m sure not prepared to deal with comment pr0n to engage in a battle of wits or a business as usual mentality.

I’m taking different kinds of steps. The spammer is being tracked and the info will be given to the ISP and law enforcement. I will be writing my MP and taking other kinds of steps. I will not be ‘disempowered’ or stand by when myself or others are victimized. I’m sorry you got hit, and glad to hear you were able to take some positive action. Blog on!

Begala’s a US Democratic political consultant/flack who’s known for being regularly over the top and rather partisan. I don’t know if that’s a good fit, for you’re often just the opposite, erring on the side of being staid and even-handed.

    You’re too kind Mark.
If you ever get to area of Canada for a visit, we’ll stop by a Tim Horton’s and talk Canadian politics - you might be taking that compliment back:^) Blog on!

My fiance and I both think this is extremely accurate.

    Wackiness: 32/100
    Rationality: 34/100
    Constructiveness: 60/100
    Leadership: 46/100

You are an SECF–Sober Emotional Constructive Follower. This makes you a hippie. You are passionate about your causes and steadfast in your commitments. Once you’ve made up your mind, no one can convince you otherwise. Your politics are left-leaning, and your lifestyle choices decidedly temperate and chaste.

You do tremendous work when focused, but usually you operate somewhat distracted. You blow hot and cold, and while you normally endeavor on the side of goodness and truth, you have a massive mean streak which is not to be taken lightly. You don’t get mad, you get even.

Please don’t get even with this web site.
