Grrrrrrrr.
I just logged on to find nearly 2 thousand pieces of comment spam again.
I need to walk away, go have coffee with a friend, and tackle this later.
So much for closing off comments.
Sigh.
This makes me more determined than ever to find a way to stop this.
Grrrrrr.
This is like living on a flood plain in rainy season.

Switch to WordPress.
Two thousand! Wow!
My next suggestion (after taking the post button out of the comment window so people have to preivew and then post) would be mikkiana’s, WordPress.
Whoops. I spelled that wrong. Sorry.
No problem, Christopher. Happens all the time. It reminded me, I wanted to share Matt Mullenweg’s recent blog entry on comment spam.

For those of you who don’t know, Matt is the lead developer for WP. If anything, his comments on the subject are an interesting read.
Yes, join us. Your life will be easier.
(If it helps, this blog entry by WordPress founder Matt Mullenweg has some really good thoughts on comment spam and how WordPress handles it: http://photomatt.net/2004/08/01/weeds-in-the-garden/ )
Ummm…. we’re not comment-spamming you. Really.
(But Matt’s blog entry IS worth reading.)
LoL.:^)
Thanks guys. I’m going to have to do something smarter.
Server patches, spam filter upgrades, archives closed, and it’s like some guy has the key to my front door.
It makes no sense to keep allowing pr0nographer spammers to use my bandwidth. If I get sessions spikes, I want to have earned them honestly.
I’ll talk to Rachel and see what it’ll cost to move BDBO over to a more secure platform.
To be honest, I’m really tired of rumaging around tech forums etc. let alone begin to delete this garbage. I just want to write, not become the blog poster child for comment spam. I’ll check out that post! Blog on!
My move from MT to Wordpress went very quickly and smoothly and all the old links automatically redirect to their new ones
See? Another satisfied customer.
