Here in the true north strong and free, I’m watching summer slip away early.
Bees and wasps are in their aggressive mode, treetops are turning colour, tomatoes aren’t ripening, birds are eating everything they can as they prepare for flight…summer has seemed very short this year. I want to watch the shooting stars, and marvel at the second rainbow that shaped itself on the horizon in a week.

So, I’m soaking up what I can outdoors, while I can. I haven’t even read or watched the news, which for a news junkie is quite the admission. I haven’t been reading blogs, I don’t know what is going on in the world. The world is no worse off because I’m not paying attention to it.

I don’t apologize for taking time away, the pressure to post lasted about six months before I fell into a sense of cyber-rhythm. Now, more than two years on this blog, I know my readers respect and patience. I’ll be back at this, probably sooner than later, but as the days shorten, and the rain falls colder, I accept that I move with the seasons, and take my peace where and when I can get it.
I need to smell what is left of the roses.
Blog on!

What does the worker gain from his toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on men.

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live.

That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil-this is the gift of God. I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it.

God does it so that men will revere him.

Whatever is has already been,

and what will be has been before;

and God will call the past to account.
