I don’t know who this congressman is.
I can only read who he says he is.
At this stage, I don’t think that matters.
He resigned yesterday afternoon.

There is a rule in politics not to repeat back an accusation for to Do so gives it leverage. Supposedly a good politican deflects.
I don’t know what this is…but from where I sit, it’s a political statement.

After much thought and prayer, I have come to the realization that these allegations will not allow my campaign to focus on the real issues facing our nation and region,” Schrock said.

“Therefore, as of today, I am stepping aside and will no longer be the Republican nominee for Congress in Virginia’s Second Congressional District.” All three of Rep. Schrock’s offices stopped taking phone calls on Friday.

Blogs are saying why two term congressman Ed Schrock of Virginia has resigned.

The reason is his calls to gay phone sex lines according to some blogs.
The quote from a senior ‘member’ of the blog The Daily Kos, goes further in this post.
The story and the track through blogs is also here.
I don’t see the allegations on any news site yet.
(It’s on Drudge Report)
(The rumours are in The Hill which is coming up page not found)

Public figures take risks to achieve power. Often when they have it, they take destructive personal risks on personal levels.
There is triumph in some of the posts, for public figures fall hard and human nature takes perverse satisfaction in that fall. There is more than just crowing about this possible’outing’; but bragging about blogs scooping media.
You don’t see quite this kind of contrast when a public figure is discovered with prOn, a hetrosexual escort, affair, or contact with a opposite gender sex phone service. Denial, power, and position insulates us from the reality of potential consequences, If the allegations hold truth, was this alleged behavior hidden from his family?

It’s sensationalized…bloggers claiming to have an audio link, and a text transcript are available on the link above.
If it is true or partially true, lives are ruined.
