While people read a major piece in the Los Angeles Times about the Trinity Broadcasting Network, extortion, accusations etc, an even more bizarre televangelist story is unfolding in Britian and Kenya.
A summary of the TBN story and rebuttal can be found at Christianity Today.
Bishop Deya is being investigated by international police and agencies regarding a bizarre ‘miracle baby’ scam. He is a millionare UK evangelist who has been accused of using the ministry to steal and smuggle babies to couples in the UK. Couples paid up to 5 thousand pounds. He has attacked the media outlets that are covering the story, calling down curses on them. Crouch of TBN has also used God to call wrath down upon his detractors. In Deya’s case, his defense attorney has his hands full trying to keep his client from talking, or at least attempting to spin the bizarre claims and curses of the self-proclaimed Archbishop.
Here is background on TBN at Apologetics Index. More on Gilbert Deya.
