One can speak truth to power, but what good is it to speak truth to straw? Or worse, to the “passionate intensity” of which another poet spoke, the very stuff of which nightmares are made?
Redwood Dragon looks at conservatism.
Correction: Redwood Dragon looks at the conservative movement and makes a distinction between the two terms.

Actually, not conservatism, which is a valid and valuable worldview, but the “conservative movement.” The point is, they’re not the same anymore, and, in fact, the conservative movement is morphing into a form of fascism.
The answer, then, to “hollow men” is to construct “straw men” instead? Even if one accepts the caricature being presented, the dots being connected to draw the conclusion are specious at best. Bush (and by extension, supporters) = Fascist — how original. From “blog on” to MoveOn?”
I’m not sure I understand where either you or Richard have been going with the tone of some of your posts lately, but I hope you don’t think that this is an improvement in the “dialogue.” And I’m sorry, but this passive-aggressive, smack you across the chops, then apologize because you didn’t mean for it to sting approach isn’t going to cut it. My previous objection was that you are taking a divisive line here, and this seems to me to be more of same.
Okay Mike; Richard and David?
Or Richard and I?
Which Richard? Richard H or Richard B?
You’ve lost me.
Which objection?
I don’t lay any claim to improving the dialogue sometimes, I can’t be all things to all people anymore than anyone else can.
If I understand correctly MoveOn is a paid democractic blog. I have never read it.
I’m smacking you across the chops?
And I’m passive agressive in how I do it?
You’ve really lost me – I can’t apologize for something I’m not understanding here.
If this is a “you just insulted President Bush and my government, and therefore you’ve insulted me comments.” I’ll go there with you.
I’m sorry if you being a Republican, Democrat, doesn’t matter to me as much as you think it should.
Update: I deleted my sarcastic comments. I link to all kinds of things I agree with, disagree with, and find myself somewhere in the middle of.
I’m going to step on toes, it is not appropriate for me to react badly or disrespectfully when I think or feel someone steps back.
I’m lost too. I read a post on someone else’s blog, and it sparked a thought in me. I’m not pointing fingers and certainly not slapping anyone across the face, passively, aggressively or otherwise. The “we” in my post includes “me” by definition.
Shame to lose the sarcasm – I enjored it

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.
I violated my own site policy on this one.
I can’t use sarcasm at anyone’s expense, not this time.
There will be others:^)
