I don’t like that title but that’s okay.
I like the article, and not just because I was interviewed for it.:^)

I’ve been eagerly watching the mail since Martin Roth told me he was sending a copy of the Australian Salvation Army War Cry.

The title is the cover story for the November issue, and reporter Jen Vuk interviewed four bloggers…Martin Roth, Darren Rowse, Gordon Cotterill and me. Interview requests to USA blogs4God owner Dean Peters went unanswered.

Vuk starts with this premise.

A couple of years ago Christian bloggers seemed to take to the net with a vengeace. But what is the state of Christian blogging today? And has it, as one blogger hoped it would, really made a difference in our society?

It’s a reasonable and narrative representation encompassing Australia, the UK and Canada god-bloggers.
Vuk looks at the history of god-blogs, the current state of blogging and where we think we are going. It is written with copious quotes and is well laid out for those who don’t know much about web-logs. There are cautionary notes, interestingly all four of us sounded them. The article doesn’t label by denomination, occupation and the little things we tend to use in the day to day to categorize someone. Jen Vuk allows the bloggers to speak.

I found it refreshing to see the Australian Salvation Army take an interest, I pleased that god-bloggers are thriving so well internationally, and I see none of the media/culture war mentality between print and internet. And I like that Vuk didn’t lose the focus in the coverage.

…but it’s obvious that Christian blogs are not only here to stay, most are also exploring all that it means to follow Jesus. And, while the blogs may not, as yet, be making much of a noise, it pays to remember that the sound of change often begins not as a roar but as a whisper.

(I received reprint permission from Australia and have posted the WarCry article In blog we trust at connexions.)
