Some time ago Rev. Mike put a far side cartoon (Gary Larson) up on his blog.
I wonder if his publisher is using BlogSquirrel?

Anyway Creators Syndicate sent him an email, and it was politely done.
They explained their position and included a letter from Gary Larson.
Love the last line.

You’ve have to be a real hard head not to respect such a gracious gesture from a company that holds the rights.
I suspect if you were hard headed, the next bit of correspondence would be a bit more legal.

So, in a nutshell (probably an unfortunate choice of words for me), I only ask that this respect be returned, and the way for anyone to do that is to please, please refrain from putting The Far Side out on the Internet. These cartoons are my “children,” of sorts, and like a parent, I’m concerned about where they go at night without telling me. And, seeing them at someone’s web site is like getting the call at 2:00 a.m. that goes, “Uh, Dad, you’re not going to like this much, but guess where I am.

I hope my explanation helps you to understand the importance this has for me, personally, and why I’m making this request.

Please send my “kids” home. I’ll be eternally grateful.

That was nicely done - we could all learn.

I like this post, especially given the tone of related stories of others not being so congenial.

Take care and keep in touch!

Wow. You really have to respect the guy’s tact. After all, it is actually copy right infringement.

It is interesting that we’re starting to see more and more definition of what is ethical in the blogosphere (for better or ill). I am actually quite concerned about the few efforts that I’ve seen to censor (sp?) bloggers. Can you say Big Brother.
