The big news in Canada today is the weather.
It’s one of the busiest travel days of the year, and major air hubs like Calgary, Montreal, Toronto and Halifax are jammed with passengers waiting out flight delays.

Major roads like the Trans Canada and highways in the central section of Canada are partially closed as an army of plows and sanders try to stay ahead of the snow and winds.

I was out helping a friend shovel this morning, his snow blower was stolen.
We got a foot off the driveway, it’s coming down so hard, there will be about another 20 to 30 centimetres tonight, so I promised to meet him after work and shove it out of the way.
Snow, high winds and very low temps in the prairies, same in central and northern Canada and rain and snow in the Maritimes.

Here is what a typical Canadian weather warning looks like for my friends in the southern hemisphere.

Heavy snowfall warning for XXXX continued

Fifteen to 30 centimetres of total snow accumulation are possible by this afternoon.

This is a warning that heavy snow is imminent or occurring in these Regions. Monitor weather conditions. Listen for updated statements.

Heavy snow ahead of a storm crossing the lower XXXX area this afternoon continues to spread snow to the regions this morning.

A total of fifteen to 30 centimetres of snow accumulation are possible before the system departs this afternoon.

Light northerly winds and very cold temperatures will yield wind chills of minus 40 to minus 45 west of XXXX today and tonight. Beware of frostbite.

Definitely a white Christmas.:^)

Oooh….nasty! I don’t envy you. Been there; done that.

It was +10 when I woke up this morning here in the Yukon, with rain forecast for today. A “pineapple express” they call it. Really weird.

I don’t envy the weather you’re experiencing. It’s especially tough when people are traveling for the holidays. Don’t hurt yourself shovelling. Blessings
