Angus Reid did a poll on the least liked Canadians.
It was a typical telephone poll conducted in November and surveyed 1000 people.
People had to pick a living Canadian. What is wrong with this picture?

What living Canadian do you like least?
(Ranking)

1. Paul Martin
2. Jean Chrétien
3. Brian Mulroney
4. Don Cherry
5. Stephen Harper
6. Jean Charest
7. Ralph Klein
8. Bernard Landry
9. Gordon Campbell
10. Dalton McGuinty

With the exception of Don Cherry, all the people chosen are politicans.
What does that tell us about us even if the sampling is small?
And what does that tell us about what we know of our country?
And what does it tell us about our media?

Why is there a poll about the least liked of anyone?

    Something isn’t right with that.

    Random observations.

Don Cherry is clearly going soft, being unduly influenced by European culture and not giving 110%. Otherwise he would have been one of the “three stars”.

    Trudeau’s lucky he’s not alive??!!

Not enough people have heard a live Avril Levigne performance.

    Paris Hilton must be american.

It gets really, really stupidly cold in Canada. All that moronic energy has to manifest itself somewhere!

Off the top of my head,
    1) we’re imitating our southern neighbours
    2) its really really stupidly cold and all that moronic energy has to manifest itself somewhere
(Canadians invented Trival Pursuit - what does that say?)
    3) no hockey:^)

This is the first least liked survey that I have ever seen. I guess I naturally filter such nastyness out.

    I like Trival Pursuit.

    I like Trivial Pursuit too.:^)

    Foolish, isn’t it?
I didn’t follow through to see if the polling company allowed respondants to pick at whim, or gave them a list to chose from.

Ottawa bashing is as time honoured as hockey in Canada. It is an enormous country held together by a parliamentary system that pits province against the federal government. Since equalization payments play a significant part of the back and forth, it seems logical the PM and premiers would make the list.

Doesn’t make it any less asburd. I suspect many would be hard pressed to explain why they dislike whomever.

Another thing I find disquieting is why a polling company would waste our time with this.
