I’ve received some information regarding the question about phishing that will be of use to those at AntiOnline looking for information on how to stop this.
The original post about is this here and this is the basic warning:
The information is from the RCMP
Telephone scam: “$99 vacation”
La version française suit la version anglaise.
The Telephony Unit has been advised that many employees have received along-distance call (from 1-305-675-6263 or 567-3100) advising that they have won a 5-day vacation for only $99. The recorded message asks the winner to dial “9″ to speak to an operator.
This is a scam. If you receive such a call, please hang up and do not press 9. If you do, others will be able to make long-distance calls from your telephone line and charges will be forwarded to your bill.
We thank you for your cooperation.
I contacted a telephone expert who has been working on this and here is his advice.
It was reported to phonebusters and they are working with their counterparts stateside (US) to shut them down.
Phonebusters CanadaHere is a link to various agencies that can help with the complaints process - and hopefully bring to bear some pressure on these people. There are links to agencies on both sides of the border.

p.s. The “9″ thing won’t cause toll theft from a private phone, and most company pbx’s have now been programmed to not allow this type of access any longer.
So if you have received this call, contact Phonebusters, they can get hold of phone companies that haven’t programmed shut down access yet.
It has caused a great deal of inconvience to thousands of people and law enforcement and phone companies are more than aware it is in their best interests to follow through on your reports.

thanks for the info
We’ve been getting those calls at work a lot. I called Phonebusters but they can’t do much at all.
Somebody has got to get these guys.
Thanks for the information.
I just got a call from 305 675 6263 today on a cell phone, the number of which was changed only 5 months ago or so. the company is Telus. how are these things supposed to be stopped, if phonebusters can’t do much?
Phone Busters is working with the telephone providers - I guess this keeps flooding the trunks.
All you can do is notify them and tell them what company, each provider has to stop this at their end.
Wow I just received a call from that number but missed it. I didn’t recognise the area code (although I have family in FL) and so I googled it. I’m so glad I did. Thanks for the info!
I just recieved this phone call today that showed up on my Caller ID while I was out shopping. I kept thinking that 305 seemed a familiar area code to me so I did a google search. It seems its from Key West, FL. Anyways then I searched the area code and exchange and was amazed to find so much scam info on this number. Hopefully the word can get out to stop people from scamming others like this. I personally would love to see stuff like this come to an end. SHAME ON YOU SCAMMERS
I was sleeping and these guys called me luckily enough im a heavy sleeper and missed the call thank goodness because i probably would’ve pushed 9 in my sleepy state of mind. Good thing you guys have this posted here I can let others know about it now. thanks alot

It sure is taking a long time to shut down that number.
It’s been happening to people since at least January, and I just got a call today (end of March).
I just received a call today as well. 2nd call in 2 months.

Just got a call from this number on my Fido prepaid. I don’t answer the calls I don’t recognize since I’m paying for incoming minutes, but I’m glad I used Google to look it up and found this site - thanks!
I also received a call from this number on my voice mail. Just a one second call, but I recorded the number and voila.
They just called my house, and I never answer anything from out of area unless I know who it is, and I googled it, and came here. Thanks!
I received a call from the ‘305′ number last month, and today from the ‘214′ number.
According to the phonebusters web site, these are legit
