The World Health Organization has identified a hemmorrhagic fever outbreak in Angola as Marburg.
There have been 102 cases reported. 95 people have died.
This is the second largest outbreak since the virus was indentified in 1967.
There is no treatment or cure.
WHO’s Africa Regional Office has alerted it’s rapid response team.
Marburg is an extremely severe type of hemorrhagic fever which affects humans and non-human primates. The only other virus in this family is the four strains of ebola. It is unknown how a host animal transmits the virus to humans, but once it is transmitted it is spread by human to human contact.

Around the fifth day after the onset of symptoms, a maculopapular rash, most prominent on the trunk (chest, back, stomach), may occur. Nausea, vomiting, chest pain, a sore throat, abdominal pain, and diarrhea then may appear. Symptoms become increasingly severe and may include jaundice, inflammation of the pancreas, severe weight loss, delirium, shock, liver failure, massive hemorrhaging, and multi-organ dysfunction.
