The side show this week at the Gomery Inquiry has been Warren Kinsella and David Herle.
Warren Kinsella is a former Chretien aide, and author of the book “Kicking Ass in Canadian Politics”. He has been called The Prince of Darkness. He knows spin and he is a lib attack dog, well schooled in the current Republican style in the US.
Jordon Cooper says Kinsella is a popular Canadian blogger. I disagree. He is Canadian, he blogs, but I don’t think he’s popular. He’s burned some bridges. You read him with about the same facination as a lookie loo has at a house fire.
Thing is, after seeing him threaten bloggers, I don’t believe a word he says.
Do I believe he is quite willing to take people down? Yeah. I do believe that.
Step in the way of a major ego? Heaven help anyone who even thinks about it.
That brings me to the spat between Kinsella and Herle. Herle is a behind the scenes player in the Martin camp. Here is a bit of info about David Herle. Depending on who you talk to, he either saved the federal election and party or helped destroy it.
I saw a clip of him at the inquiry today, a candid shot, and if looks could kill Kinsella and others would be 6 feet under. I don’t believe a word Herle says either.
Good thing I’m not the judge.
I wouldn’t want to have to listen to either one of them to get to where I’d need to go in this inquiry. They are loyal to their alpha males (Chretien and Martin). All or nothing political players. This isn’t mugging for the camera, the anger and division is real and has been for a long time.
These aren’t guys I’d want to sit down and have a beer with, at least not in the same bar at the same time.
Update: Andrew Coyne has been working late. Okay. The unnamed person is named, and Coyne asks a reasonable question. So, who called him?
And I may have to eat my words. May 19th is reasonably the day the opposition can make a move. Election June 27th?
