Technically the Governer-General is the head of the country.

Prime Minister Paul Martin called Adrian Clarkson as the opposition shut down parliament today.

Apparently this has happened before in 1968. It takes a constitutional expert to sort out.

A politican can ‘walk out.’ They still get paid.

The Governor General can only advice the Prime Minister to dissolve parliament and call an election. He doesn’t have to heed the advice.

So, does the logjam continue for another week until the budget vote?

A friend said today they were so angry at the federal government at the moment they didn’t want to discuss the going ons. That suprised me. They are usually tolerant of discussion. Apparently they received a call from a poll agency on behalf of the Conservative Party and hung up on them. I had received three letters with names of people who don’t live here about a month ago. They were from the Conservative Party looking for donations.
If someone who is relatively even keeled about politics is that ticked, I wonder how many others are?

I think the Liberals will hang on another week. However, I have been known to be wrong.:^)
