The new Blogdom of God aggregator is up at Truth Laid Bear.

There are 3841 URL’s on that aggregator today.

Legally Dr. Warnock can scrape any blog or URL he wants to.
Ethically is another matter.
Warnock has indicated he will take anyone off that list that choses not to be on it.
This looks like a depressing case of enthusiasm run amock.

A great deal of trouble would have been saved, if bloggers had been asked first.
However, we were not. It’s absolutely amazing what has been scraped.

There are copious repeats (I counted 3 Quantum Teas) 404’s. It’s pathetic even for a first day, blogs have been grabbed willy nilly, personal aggregators added, URL’s that don’t make much sense,re-directs, archives. It’s so bad it’s sad.
Looks like something techy I’d try to do.:^)

Given what has been taken, it’s likely your blog is there.
There is an excellent discussion regarding aggregators/search engines under the post below.
Please don’t buy into the current reasoning that you asked for it.

Check the list.
You can go to the main page and use the pull down menu to find the Blogdom, click go. The list is on the right hand side of the page.
If you wish to be removed perhaps you can learn from my experience.
Send an email to Dr. Warnock requesting removal.

Check back once you’ve been told your URL has been removed.
If it hasn’t - email Dr. Warnock again.
I think it will take time, this is beta, and as beta, an understandably gross misrepresentation of what is out there.
Dr. Warnock needs some serious technical assistance, he needs someone to pay attention to personal requests for removal, let alone clean it up.

This Alliance/Blogdom is currently a slipshod posting you may be on and I personally doubt anything will be cleaned up and fixed soon. It’s a huge job, a lot was taken.
Maybe a blog burst is needed.
If you see bloggers you know on that list, the kind thing would be to get in touch with them and let them know so they can make a personal choice.

The Wibsite group was scraped, and I can fully understand their concern.

If you are happy to be part of the Blogdom of God, great.
I hope it’s productive and fun for you.
You aren’t who I’m trying to reach.

Dr. Warnock got back to me regarding removal.

Managed to get to a PC to find out what the concern was over. Ultimately if your RSS feed is published on your website you are asking for it to be included in all kinds of services both christian and not so I am surprised by people being bothered about being included.

I will remove any blogs that are incorrectly in the blogdom list or who want removalon request. If anyone can send me a list of blogs I should remove I will do so (if you ask me to remove someone elses blog I reserve the right to not do so without discussing it with them and/or a group of christian bloggers of my choosing)

Have just been trying to servet the Christian blogosphere here and am sorry for any offense. Did not see these comments till today.

I’m far from the only blogger that has expressed concerns, and the same comment was left at other blogs.
So as this mess gets sorted, I think we can and need to hold Dr. Warnock to his word.

Update: Sunday June 19th
Here is what you have to do to get off Dr. Warnock’s aggregator - The Blogdom of God or his UK blogs aggregator. His rules for removal are in his post…Joining the TLB Communities.

I have asked to be removed - not because I have problems with aggregators but because I cannot reconcile his comment that it’s not a popularity contest when blogs are ranked by popularity.

    I’m surprised.
You are very even keeled and patient. You are well known for your skills and tolerance of new ventures.

Too bad the Blogdom top 20 techs can’t get realistic about cleaning up the Alliance list.

I owe you a great deal for your help and technical expertise. Little things, like not having the XML on the front page.
    Thank you Rachel.

I’m sure that Adrian will remove those who ask. I don’t envy him the task of removing the spurious links, though. Weeding them out is going to be time-consuming. I think we should cut him a bit of slack — however it has come out, I’m sure that Adrian’s heart is in the right place.

Arrrrgghhhh! I thought this would be an easy decision to remove myself… But it looks so pretty and I like where I rank. BLAH! Ethically, I’m opposed to being on the list… but but but… It’s laid out so nicely.

Sigh. I guess I’m going to have to sleep on this…

    Okay Richard, will do.

Motive, intent, don’t care. Method, yeah.

btw: your redirect is on the list along with your blog.

Okay. I’m done. You’re right. It’s an near impossible task. He needs a lot of slack.

Now I’m done. Okay Richard, will do.

    Hey Nikkiana:

I understand, honest. I know the lure.
Looking good for God and popular for Him too.
We can get sucked up in that routine faster than a sheet of toilet paper in a tornado.
You have a choice at least.:^)
Sleep well and go under the mercy..

Okay Richard, sorry. Now I’m really done.

My original blog address is on the list as well. I’ve tried more than once to have it removed from TTLB (just as I’ve tried to have the UnRight Christians listed there) but I’ve never succeeded in getting a response from the owner.

Just to reiterate, I totally failed to realise that some people would not want to be in it. So far a tiny handful have asked for removal and I have tried to weed out some of the eroneous links. I am merely trying to serve the christian blogosphere, and although I maintain I did nothing wrong in including publically available lists of christian blogs I will remove anyone who wants removal

I’m an original member of the Blogdom, so I don’t mind… but I guess I’m worried about the popularity contest conotation too, Adrian.

I think there are many reasons why some people don’t want to be in it: Some just don’t want to be so prominent, others for religious or personal reasons … it may be a little bit of a surprise for them to suddenly realise they’re part of a group they didn’t know about. :)

The internet is publicly available. Anyone who posts on it who thinks it’s wrong for someone to link to their stuff seems to me to have some cognitive dissonance. This is supposed to be a way to gather together an accurate list of bloggers who believe in God. Those who insist on getting out are ensuring that the list is less accurate. They have the right to request that people who link to them do not, but I see no moral issue with linking to someone who did not ask for it. That just seems silly and paranoid.

As for the ranking, that’s part of how the Ecosystem works. It keeps track of who is linking to whom. It counts links and sees who will be more likely to come up in Google more often because of those greater links. It gives some measure of who has a wider or greater audience by ranking traffic, and it gives some measure of which bloggers are well-liked and therefore most recommended, which gives readers a chance to follow those recommendations and see which blogs they will want to read. None of this requires ill motives, but any objection to any of this seems to me to assume ill motives. The whole history of this discussion has involved that assumption, and it strikes me as an unfair and immoral assumption. That’s why I just don’t understand this outrage about the Blogdom of God.

    Cognitive dissonance:
“An inconsistency among some experiences, beliefs, attitudes, or feelings. According to dissonance theory, this sets up an unpleasant state that people try to reduce by reinterpreting some part of their experiences to make them consistent with the others.”

    Oh?
It’s legal yes. If someone took Dr. Warnock to court because they can’t get off the list, the person would win.
NZ Bear has an opt out policy on his TTLB and Alliances.
Why?Because not everyone wants to be on a list. This isn’t a homogenous internet.

Paranoid: “a person suffering from parnoia
a psychological disorder characterized by delusions of persecution or grandeur”

I couldn’t care less about motives and intent Jeremy, nor could some others that are not happy about being scrapped. And those that do are not mentally ill.

I’ve been blogging three years. It’s getting dreary. Someone comes along every year with a grand scheme to organize god-blogs.

This isn’t about linking to posts, or adding someone to your blogroll.
This is about scrapping URL’s, and forming them into a group list that some people chose not to be on.

If that is something you don’t understand, that’s cool. I’m arguing choice. If you are happy there, happy being ranked, fine. If a difference of opinion is silly to you, that’s fine.

My frustration is the opt out. The burden remains on me to send a removal email every time my blog re-appears. That is also reached a point of dreariness where I’ve given up.

The original assumption was this: ” I totally failed to realise that some people would not want to be in it.” - Adrian Warnock
