Awhile ago I had a blogger I respect write me and in essence say, knock off Warren Kinsella, he’s a nice guy.
Then they said they weren’t in a position to tell me why they said that, which is fine. I don’t doubt what they said for a second.

I know the drill. Some of the people in politics that come across as ‘nice guys’ aren’t at all. And some like Kinsella are pretty consistant with their public image.
He’s not content to stay in the back room, and love him or hate him, he does what he thinks he needs to do to help his party win.
In deference to the blogger whom I have respect for, I knocked off. The furor in the Canadian blogosphere had died down anyway.

My beef with Kinsella was never his party, I really couldn’t care less. It was his political hardball tactics spilling over into the blogosphere and onto people that did not deserve it, and his behaviour wasn’t necessary.
The lines blur in politics all the time, some people just never shut down.

This would be an interesting match and when it comes to strategists, the Conservatives could do worse. Politics makes strange bedfellows, and strange defections, and at the end of the day it’s not about who is nice, it’s about forwarding the leader’s image, hammering the party line and winning. It’s manipulative and it works.
As for the free advice? I doubt you’ll get anymore. Take it and run.
