Canada Day is about being Canadian; celebrating the unique and multi-cultural nature of our country. It's about embracing the differences from which we draw our strengths. Being Canadian is not about 'being better than anyone else' - it's about "com'on over for a beer, stay for dinner and meet the familly. You're always welcome."

It's about acceptance. Inclusion. Good common values.

Yeah we get a lot of flack from some in the US, but consider this. The don't necessarily represent the views of every american. And everytime 'FOX NEWS" goes on it's anti-Canadian stance, remember this: You only have to tell the truth once. Lies - you gotta keep saying them over and over.

I visited Canada for 2 weeks in August 1992. I was part of the first ever Canadian Bike for Bibles ride.

We took a week to cycle from Revelstoke to Golden.

I only wish I had the money to fly the family to Canada for a few months to have a really good look around. It's a magnificent place.

The Canadians I have met in my travels have been gentle and kind people. Living in Michigan for over 20 years, I have visited many times. Toronto is a great city. The Stratford Shakespeare Festival is an outstanding theater experience. And your side of Niagara Falls is WAY better than the U.S. side. Your money is cooler too -- I love the way it depicts Canadian wildlife.

As Kevin said, Canada is beautiful. Not only the scenery, but the people. From Victoria to Jasper to Edmonton to Toronto to Québec City [I haven't got farther east...yet!] I have been welcomed and treated wonderfully by all.

Your maple syrup is to die for.

You can laugh at yourself. And love to do so.

The people and government seem to have a conscience; the govt conscience sadly lacking in many countries [mine included...Oz].

Canada is a beautiful country; its strength is its diversity, and despite our challenges and disagreements, it is still the "true north strong and free."

Vive le Canada!

I did not really know what a Canadian was until I travelled.
Like many things that are defined by the absence
of positive properties......
darkness, the absence of light,
evil, absence of good....
for all the things wrong with Canada,
the good things are great.
Be thankful

"It is the people of this country that holds it together."

That, my friend, is what I celebrate about "The True North, Strong and Free".

Blessings and peace to you - and everyone else reading - on Canada's celebration day.
