Shasta and her brother Dylan went missing May 15th from their home in Idaho.

On May 16th authorities found the bodies of her mother, her 13 year old brother and a family friend at the home.

The murders and disappearance of the children were big news in Idaho.

Authorities fear that Dylan is dead.
Shasta and Dylan’s kidnapper blogged.
When you read Joseph Duncan’s blog, there is a lot of talk about a lot of things.
God’s love, God’s grace, going to another state to avoid reporting to authorities.
A 40 year old emotionally stunted, arrested - detaching, separating his good self and his evil self, polarizing, intellectualizing and justifying.

Even though the chances of a child being abducted by a stranger are less than the same child being struck by lightening, or bitten by a shark, children today are preoccupied with that fear. Fear is the beginning of isolation, confusion and hate.

Shasta was saved when staff at a Denny resturant recognized her.

Joseph Edward Duncan III had been blogging about his troubles being a registered sex offender. He brags about another site he has that he has encrypted. Blogging The Fifth Nail was found in web archives by someone at Metafilter.

Duncan was first arrested for rape when he was 16.

In his 1980 conviction in Washington, Duncan pleaded guilty to abducting and raping a 14-year-old boy at gunpoint, burning the victim with a cigarette and firing the gun — on empty chambers — causing him to believe he would be killed, according to a description from the North Dakota sex offender registry.

On his blog you’ll see how he rigged his life to avoid detection, you’ll see his deterioration…

My home was invaded by several police officers just this last Friday while I was at work. I caught them just after they broke in through a window on my web cam which sends an alert to my cell phone when it detects motion. My phone alerted me to the break in while I was waiting for Investigator Chad Jutz fill out the paperwork after searching my car and taking a disposable water proof camera.

Shasta is being re-united with her father and extended family.
