A few days ago I deliberately, willfully linked to a kidnappers blog by using a headline that would bring seekers to this blog. And it has.
It was mercenary of me, I admit that.
What I pray is that people stopping here will see and understand how self-focused, ordinary and banal evil is. This man is tormented, and his limited understanding and his talk about God will not bring him peace. He is us - me - one step further past social and legal limits than most of us go. If we don’t understand that we can be as spiritually and morally bankrupt, we won’t understand the weight of our prayer - deliver us from evil - and the amazing love of God to do so.

Amen. A few years’ back I realised that I am but one step away from overstepping societal norms. It gives you a completely different perspective. “There but for the grace of God go I.”
An extraordinary story which should be filed under “stranger than fiction” to my mind. I had a brief look at his blog. I’m a bit surprised that it is still up. People seem to have been enjoying putting in their tuppence worth - over 1000 comments on the last post! Is that the equivalent of rubber-necking a traffic accident?
