Dr. Richard Bott of looking back…looking foward is asking a question that perhaps you can help answer.
How can I think globally and act locally?
So, mes amis, I’d appreciate your help.
The challenge… name five things you can do from where you are, right now, that will make a positive difference (however slight it may seem) to this hurting world. Post them on your blog and trackback to this post, or post them in the comments section here.
I am grateful to Alicia of Fructus Ventris for alerting me to a serious situation with a writer I have great respect and fondness for.
Lee Anne blogs at such small hands. She is a mom, a wife, a reporter, a faithful member of her community who received the gift of a kidney some years ago.
This past year, it began to fail.
Lately her blog hasn’t been updated as her condition deteriorated. Still she encouraged others, linked to new blogs, worte in her moving crisp stye, thanked people…
Lee Anne is in hospital - the doctors are trying to stabilize her so she can start dialysis while she waits for a kidney.
Her blood pressure is now ok - 134/69 was the last reading.
She has nausea and dooesn’t eat much. I am not sure if its a side effect of her medications or her creatine level (6.5). She is in pretty good spirits. Close friends are visiting & calling.
Today, she had the dry heaves for a few minutes - then laughed about a commercial she saw on tv.
The doctors want to get more of the liquid out of her body and lungs so that she can take the anesthesia and the operation required to install a dealybob for dialysis.
Rachel Cunliffe has had a lot of fun running the NZ Idolblog and has come to know and respect the fans. Rachel is also a lecturer at the university in Auckland and has a tremendous heart for her students. I’ll let her tell you about a fan she got to know at Idolblog.
I’ve known Nellie - a member on my site, Idolblog.com - for the past year and I feel strongly that she should get an education even though
it’s currently financially incredibly difficult for her to get the money
to go back to school (she needs about $350US).She’s exhausted so many ways of trying to get funding that I suggested writing a blog about her situation and dreams for the future may help.
She’s a talented vector artist and is happy to do that in return for any donations.
Nellie has set up a blog. $350US. No one with drive or talent should have to forgo an opportunity for an education for $350US. Rachel is not the type to take up frivilous causes, and she is an excellent reader of people and their potential.
