While we Canadians deal with flooding on the prairies, heat waves in central Canada and cold weather on the coasts, we have a great deal to be thankful for.
There has been no lose of life directly because of weather or weather related incidents, although about 4 thousand Canadians will die from indirect weather related incidents such as respiratory diseases or heart attacks.
While 178 forest fires burn in Quebec, no one has been hurt.

In Spain 11 firefighters died east of Madrid fighting a forest fire on a natural reserve. Four villages were evacuated, France is sending help while the army joins firefighters trying to bring the blaze under control.

While Mexico deals with hurricane Emily (category 4) and about 24 thousand tourists sought shelter, it’s a similar situation in Taiwan and the east coast of China.
77 thousand people have been evacuated as Typhoon Haitang (category 3) heads toward the province of Zhejiang. In the past few years the Chinese government has been more forthcoming about the loss of life in typhoon season.
