Canada’s new Governor General didn’t make the speculative short list.

Michelle Jean will be the youngest Canadian to hold the position.
She is a Haitian immigrant who speaks five languages and is well known as a Quebec journalist.

Jean is replacing English journalist Adrianne Clarkson, who has been GG for six years.

Here is a quick fact sheet on the Govenor General responsibilities, etc.
Debate rises and falls on whether or not Canada needs to be or should remain a constitutional monarchy.
I don’t have a strong opinion yea or nay.

I have no similar opinions on Australia’s status either.

I visited Rideau Hall in 2002. Absolutely beautiful.

    I’ve never seen it.
I wonder if most Canadians have.

Interestintly, I’ve never been to ours either. In fact, I’ve got no idea if you even can visit it!

[I've been to our State Governor's residence though]
