Snow and Australia.

I’ve never pictured the two in the same sentence.

It snowed in and around Ballarat, parts of Gippsland in eastern Victoria, stretching south to the coast, leading to the closure of some schools and roads. And light snow was reported along the west coast. The weather bureau says it is almost unprecedented for snow to fall at sea level, but yesterday there were reports of snow at Phillip Island, Mornington Peninsula and in Melbourne’s eastern and northern suburbs.

I went to some Australian friends blogs to see if the snow merited a mention.
ar arr arrr. I stopped by Caleb’s blog. He’s a friend who is living down under. He hasn’t posted much since this friendly game of rugby:

To feed that fire, I was also a victim of school yard politics. That’s right. A victim. Just because I’m Canadian. And haven’t played much rugby. I was picked last. Even after Mitch, who hurt his ankle and couldn’t move properly.

Granted I do suck. But by the end I was going alright. And scored the winning try.

Which will be my only consolation as I find my self paralyzed with pain this evening when both calves cramp in the middle of the night. Oh, it’s coming. You know it is.

Just a quick clarification. The light snow on the west coast they’re referring to is the west coast of the state of Victoria, not the west coast of Australia.

Over here in beautiful Western Australia the weather’s been just wonderful. In Perth we’ve had fine days with temperatures around 20 celcius. Not bad for winter hey?

It has been a bit more “fresh” around Sydney… but alas… no snow. The said on the news it hit -7…er… somewhere… I missed that part. But that’s crazy cold for Australia.

re: The rugby wounds. They are healing nicely. ;)

They promised us snow in the Melbourne (South East Australia) Central Business District - but alas. It’s pretty cold but no snow. Some snow in the country, where it’s a bit more hilly.

Cold for us thought is between 0-10 degrees Celsius (using double and add 30 rule makes it 30-50F).
