Feeling a little manipulated lately?

In State of the Blogosphere Part 1V Dave Sifry looks at the unethical and crooked site of blogging.

Spam blogs.
Fake blogs.
Comment and trackback spam.

It may be time to close my Technorati watchlist.
I haven’t been able to do more than a tag search in days.
It’s a victim of it’s own success and it’s servers can’t handle the load.

The reason I’d close it is not because it isn’t a great service.
It is.

If the rumours Technorati is being sold to a large search engine company are true, I’ll figure out other ways to find out who is linking.
Right now, large companies and I are not in a happy place.
Blogs are big business.
I’m really tired of the targeted advertising I have to face.
If Technorati is being sold, I wish Sifry well.
Thanks. You gave us a great service that never felt as big as it really is.

This post is answers my question. I’ve been having problems with Technorati over the past couple of weeks. I knew you were a user and had made a note to e-mail you this weekend to see if the problem was confined to the Messy Desk or wide-spread. I guess I’m not the only one. Blessings

    It isn’t you:^)

I know you had a lot to deal with fixing your blog.

Technorati has been honest and open about problems and used to be able to fix them quickly. It hasn’t been okay since the servers getting overwhelmed from posts/search/traffic from the London bombings.
    It isn’t you.
