Today is the deadline for most Iraqi’s to register to vote in the October referendum on the constitution.

And the toll rises.
Reports are unclear about the number of dead Shia citizens who were gathered outside a mosque in northern Bagdad when mortars hit the crowd.

Scores more people were killed in their panicked stampede to get away when the railing of a bridge they were on gave way.
Early reports put the death toll on at over 600, over 200 injured.

Udpate: The death toll in the panicked push across the bridge is reaching 1000.
