Heat seeking drones are being used in New Orleans.

The Army Times is referring to the citizens of New Orleans as ‘the insurgency.’ Not only that troops are beginning ‘combat operations’ in New Orleans.

Hey, we all have our sub-speak and the military takes top honours in that department, right up there with political people and lawyers, but using words like insurgency and combat is over the top.
Someone needs to show some discipline and reign in this mentality and public speaking. US citizens have enough to be concerned and angry about.

From The Revealer

…Indeed. The cavalry — or, in this case, the shock troops — are on their way to protect those economic relations. Three hundred troops directly from Iraq have landed in the city, and “they have M-16s, and they’re locked and loaded,” blusters Louisiana Governor Blanco. “These troops know how to shoot and kill, and they are more than willing to do so if necessary, and I expect they will.”

In addition to bullets, the rescuers are bringing Bibles. Crates of them reportedly await refugees in Houston, and FEMA has listed Pat Robertson’s “Operation Blessing” as a suitable destination for donations.

A former army guy in New Orleans has gained a lot of attention because he and his co-workers are trying to keep Intercosmos Media Group, Inc. operating. They nicknamed their location Camp Crystal in honour of his girlfriend. It’s a very intense read, he and his co-workers are on a 10th floor, pretty self contained and just trying to keep the company servers running.

September 2nd

Was waiting on the street freaking out the Federal Cops guarding the Bogs building until the actually came over to talk and found out who we are and what we’re doing.

Then Homeland Sec comes driving by and yells water and hums a 20 ouncer at our feet without slowing down. I know I’m not looking too hot right now, but come on. I’m standing out there with my flashlight on in the middle of the road, obviously waiting on a convoy.

Bunch of stressed out, trigger-ready police and military types driving by suspicious as all hell. It’s not safe just standing out on the street even if you look like you belong there.

Anyway, I’m gonna sit tight up here until something definite appears on the street.

Joe Carter was asking the same question, in a much more tacky/pointed way, about the busses. Mayor Nagin was asking for busses when he had a lot of school busses that could have been put into use. I don’t know if he had the direct power to do so (school districts often are run seperatly from city governments) but resourses got underused.

They’re bringing guns and bibles…exactly what Jesus would bring, huh? ;)
