The Detroit Free Press takes a timely look at Detroit god-blogger Lee Anne Millinger of Such Small Hands, and adds some new voices.
In contrast, American religious bloggers tend to be more evangelical and conservative, Millinger said. That’s an educated guess, based on her years as an avid blogger.
Her blog, which she calls “Such Small Hands: Politics, Pop Culture, Parenting and the Christian Walk,” reflects her evangelical faith.
“To start blogging and stick with it, a person has to feel they’ve got something wonderful to share. And a lot of people who feel that way about their faith have traditional or evangelical voices,” she said.
Windows to the Soul mentions North Carolina Presbyterian blogger Rev. Mike Murdoch reaching out from South Carolina to Lee Anne by phone.
In late 2003, she helped the Rev. Michael Murdock, a Presbyterian pastor in North Carolina, with the technical advice he needed to move from reading blogs to creating one. So, earlier this year, when Millinger blogged about several family crises — including her need for a kidney transplant, which she is still awaiting — Murdock immediately telephoned with kind words.
“We’ve never met in person, but I wanted to add my pastoral support,” he said this week. “Her family was going through a lot. And that’s what this kind of blog is all about. We’re writing about down-in-the-trenches, practical living.”
The article also mentions Global Voices, a blog effort out of Harvard and Catholic blogger Fr. Bloomfield.
