Controversial UK newspaper writer Robert Fisk wasn’t allowed into the US earlier this week.

He was on his way to a conference in Santa Fe and was not permitted into the US by immigration officials at Toronto Pearson Internationl.

Fisk writes for The Independent.
He spoke via satellite feed from a Toronto television station.

His name has become a term in blog language:

Fisk
verb. To deconstruct an article on a point by point basis in a highly critical manner. Derived from the name of journalist Robert Fisk, a frequent target of such critical articles in the blogosphere (qv).

Usage: “Orrin Judd did a severe fisking of an idiotic article in the New York Times today…”

One Response to “Robert Fisk”

We should all possess half the intelligence and integrity as Robert Fisk. Whether one agrees with his politics or not, one cannot truly make a valid argument against his reporting because he always and without fail backs his arguments up. He does not speak “off-the-cuff” nor does he spout off emotional propaganda. His writing is cynical, sarcastically humorous, and truthful. I can see why so many are threatened by him - he’s a calm, reasonable voice in a sea of hyperbole and babble.
