Joshua Claybourn is always gracious about granting an interview. This time it’s Focus on the Family, he gives them a primer on blogging for their magazine Citizen, and it isn’t always the main stream media that doesn’t get information correct. Publicity from anywhere can look good on a possible future politicians resume. This Talk to Action piece looks at the line up for Focus on the Family lobby arm, The Family Research Council, Justice Sunday III and some information on Sky Angel, the satellite network that beams into churches for these events.
Senator Rick Santorum is a featured speaker at Justice Sunday III which may give the exciting lineup of event bloggers’ something to post about. Jack Abramoff ties to Santorum are being investigated.
”Jack Abramoff, the lobbyist who spawned a congressional corruption scandal, pleaded guilty Tuesday to three felonies and pledged to cooperate in a criminal probe edging closer to former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay.
“I plead guilty, your honor,” Abramoff said in flat, unemotional tones, accepting a plea bargain that said he had provided lavish trips, golf outings, meals and more to public officials “in exchange for a series of official acts.”
In one case, he reported payments totaling $50,000 to the wife of a congressional aide to help block legislation for a client. The aide worked for DeLay, according to officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Public corruption aside, Abramoff admitted defrauding four Indian tribes and other clients, taking millions in kickbacks from a one-time business partner, misusing a charity he had established and failing to pay income taxes on millions of ill-gotten gains.”
Abramoff is expected to plead guilty in Florida tomorrow regarding charges surrounding a purchase of a fleet of gambling boats.
“At the Justice Department, officials said they intend to make use of the trove of e-mails and other material in Abramoff’s possession as part of a probe that is believed to be focusing on as many as 20 members of Congress and aides.”

I did some Googling on your Abramoff-Santorum connection; the only connection that shows up in the news was that Santorum was involved in an Abramoff project to place more Republicans in lobbyist jobs. As far as I can tell, Santorum’s not linked to the donations-for-Indian-gaming votes that is the core of the Abramoff scandal.
I know the Justice Sunday crowd’s not your cup of tea, but you’re stretching the guilt-by-association a bit.
I understand the Senator was busy with the Thomas More Law Centre resignation and his ties with Abramoff money were guilt by association. As where Rev. Lou Sheldon’s of the Traditional Values Coalition.
Now that Mr. Abramoff has pleaded guilty I suspect there will be a lot more money surface in various places. I see Santorum is busy suggesting campaign reform. He is going to need the traditional base to win back his seat isn’t he?
