I owe a big thank you to Leighton Tebay of Prairie Fusion and Rachel and Regan Cunliffe of cre8d-design.
There are a few small things to tidy here, and it is mostly things I can do, what I can’t will be taken care of from New Zealand while I’m sleeping in North America.
I’m learning.:^) I’m learning to adapt to little things like using shift-enter so paragraphs look right. Very cool. And I’m learning because of talented technical people who have bent over backwards to get this blog stable again. Things need to look right at BDBO, and I can’t define what ‘look right’ exactly means to me; perhaps it’s more about personal taste, basics like paragraph spacing, a clean look, and how I talk/write on this blog. It’s important to me this blog is accessible/standard compliant for all readers. I can do this!
I have two personal projects this winter, one will be to tidy the archives. That is doable on WP 2.0, and it is something I’m actually looking forward too. This is a good platform for people like me that get cranky quickly about technical things. Getting buried by spam can change ones perspective and it’s good to get it back again. I’m learning to find my way around online again, to ’see’ my home base here at BDBO and leap off from it, no longer buried under spam, no longer losing blogs I’ve liked to read, less befuddled about pings and traffic and RSS and more confident with the blog tools I have not being hijacked by spam and spammers.
A study just released about RSS (really simple syndication) (.pdf) indicates that 31% of people online use RSS. Only 12 % of users are aware of it, and only 4% of us use it knowingly. I use it knowingly because of the help and support I’ve received from friends like LT and R & R. People aren’t going to use RSS if they don’t know what it is. It’s been around for awhile and I’m just beginning to understand the benefits, I don’t think it’s been marketed well to average consumers such as myself.
As I post this, the URL hasn’t ‘migrated’ here yet off my ISP. I’ll get back to none personal posting when I see I’m ‘here.’:^) Many of you have arrived, by all means use the Feedster feed for your convenience, there are links at the side and the bottom, the comments can be RSS’d, and oh - if you see anything on BDBO that needs tweaked, please speak up, it’s your space too and we might as well be comfortable.
Thanks LT. Thanks Rachel. Thanks Regan.
