Sometimes it’s a cardinal sin to stay put much less leave graciously.  Sometimes the right thing to do is to break out, break free, make a decisive break.

And go walkabout.

Don’t even bother with survivor’s guilt.  Don’t worry if you have crawled through a hole in the wall while the rest of your colleagues are cowering in the corner. You may just precipitate a large scale jail break.  Pray that there is.  Who wants to be captive to a chief warden who is drunk, destructive, delusional and living in darkness.

It’s still a hard call.  But I know I made the right call this time. I know thanks to a homeless man who reminded me that for every devil in the dungeon, there are a hundred angels roaming in the streets.
